A Centre of Excellence for Facial Treatments

A fully trained and experienced Plastic Surgeon will understand ageing process and will be able to determine whether non-surgical or surgical procedures, or a combination, will produce your desired results.  You may be considering dermal fillers or Botox when you really need a face lift, or a neck lift, or eyelid surgery, or vice versa.

An experienced and well-trained Plastic Surgeon is your best partner as he/she will understand what surgery and non-surgical procedures will achieve.  Not everyone carrying out dermal filler and Botox treatments will understand the ageing process, the anatomy and the risks. ASET Hospital offers a wide variety of non-surgical treatments that aim to deliver tighter skin, renew contours, treat problematic skin and smooth wrinkles. We have an exclusive skin care programme which, after an initial skin assessment by our Consultants, can be individually tailored to your needs.

Dermal Fillers

This treatment is used to fill out wrinkles and creases that form in the skin and to create volume and fullness. Fillers are most commonly used to increase the fullness of the lips, fill out lines around the mouth, to shape and restore volume to the cheeks and crows feet around the eyes. The suppleness and tone of the skin are instantly restored with lines and wrinkles visibly reduced from the first treatment. Anyone can benefit from dermal fillers, both men and women.

The Procedure
During the procedure, the consultant injects the filler in a series of small injections and gently massages the area. Some treatments require a local anaesthetic cream or injection. The treatment time can vary from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the number of lines and wrinkles being treated. Dermal fillers are long lasting but not permanent and, depending on the filler and the area in which it is used will require further treatment possibly after 4 - 12 months after treatment.

After Care
Make-up can be applied immediately after a dermal filler treatment and you can go straight back to your daily routine. It is common to have some redness and swelling following the treatment, although this usually resolves after a few hours and the results can be seen instantly.

Wrinkle Reduction Injections - Botox

Having anti wrinkle injections using Botulinum Toxin (commonly known as Botox ®) is designed to soften or remove lines and wrinkles (related to muscle movement) to leave you with a more youthful appearance. Having Botox ® injections doesn’t mean that the result needs to be a ‘frozen look’. Unlike many practitioners, the surgeons at Aset Hospital work with your individual case to devise a tailored treatment plan best suited to your needs and expectations. Being able to express yourself naturally, with eyebrow and forehead movement, is achievable and in most cases the desirable outcome.

Wrinkle reduction treatments are ideal for anyone who has concerns about forehead creases, frown lines or crow’s feet. The treatment still allows expressions to show on the face. Many people choose to have wrinkle reduction treatments to look fresher, less tired, less stressed and ultimately younger. It's always a good idea to prevent wrinkles rather than having to deal with them as and when they appear.

Every time you smile or frown, the facial muscles fold and crease the skin. Over time, these creases and lines become deeper and more noticeable, developing into frown lines and crow's feet. Muscle relaxants can diminish these signs of ageing. By temporarily blocking more transmission to the muscles under the skin, lines and wrinkles formed by the action of these muscles, are reduced and removed.
Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is effective for reducing the appearance of certain types of facial wrinkles, it softens frown lines and in many cases can prevent or delay other lines from forming in the first place.

The Procedure
The relaxant is injected using a disposable syringe directly into the muscles which affect the wrinkles being treated. The process takes about ten minutes. The treatment lasts for around three months. However to prolong the benefits a course of treatment is recommended. The injections temporarily relax the muscles, preventing the formation of wrinkles and smoothing out lines. Most patients describe only very mild discomfort.

After Care
Following this treatment you can resume your normal daily routine straight away. It may help if you exercise the treated muscles 2-3 hours after treatment by frowning, raising your eyebrows or squinting. Do not rub or massage the treated area. Avoid strenuous exercise and wearing makeup for four hours after treatment. Side effects are rare. However, you may bruise at the injection site.

Skin Peels

A skin peel is a non-invasive procedure which helps to restore a younger, fresher appearance. It is an effective way to treat lines and wrinkles along with acne scars, pigmentation and sun damage. It smoothes and improves the texture of the facial skin by removing the damaged layers.

The Procedure
The two most common skin peels are the superficial peel and the medium depth peel. The first quickly and easily removes the outer layer of cells, lightly exfoliating the skin to give a fresher, healthy glow. The freshly cleansed face is painted with the peel which is left on for between 2 and 10 minutes – it may sting mildly. The face is then washed and neutralised and the skin will appear pink or it may be blotchy which fades after a few hours. Treatment should be repeated weekly for 4 – 6 weeks. Alternatively, a medium depth peel penetrates further into the skin, reducing small wrinkles and acne scars and may also help give a more even skin tone.

These peels can be used to improve the appearance of sun damaged skin on the face or backs of the hands. Cleansed skin is painted with the peel which turns whitish grey over a few minutes and cool saline compresses are then applied to neutralise the acid in the peel. The face may swell when the peel is applied, and any burning or stinging will last for about an hour after treatment. In the first week post treatment, the skin turns dark brown with white streaks, it will itch and start to peel and the skin will be bright red. This will fade to fresh pink over the following 3 – 6 weeks. Treatment should be repeated monthly until you achieve the desired effect and then maintained with a peel every 6 – 12 months.

After Care
The results from the moderate peels will not be noticeable until the skin has completely healed. It is imperative to follow the after-care instructions you will be given, to help the skin heal successfully. It is recommended that sunscreens should be used for the first 3 months, as this helps prevent the problem of increased pigmentation.
