Mr Tim Blackburn Research & Education Interests

Mr Tim Blackurn offers facelift, neck lift, mini facelift, blepharoplasty, genioplasty, brow lift, otoplasty, rhinoplasty, liposculpture, facial implants, For each of these there are different techniques and procedure selection should be based on an advanced knowledge of facial structure, function and balance.
Technology moves on quickly and Tim has embraced 3D virtual facial reconstructive surgery & planning, custom facial implants, and patient centred quality of life research.

He was appointed a NHS Consultant in the Department of Maxillo- Facial and Facial Plastic Surgery at Manchester Royal Infirmary with Central Manchester Foundation NHS Trust in 2008 and served as Clinical Director from 2013-2017.

Tim Blackburn is ‘board certified’ as a facial surgeon in England, UK (a Registered Specialist in Maxillo- Facial Surgery with the UK General Medical Council -number 4536776) and is on the Royal College of Surgeons of England Register of Certified Cosmetic Surgeons. He holds both the FRCS(OMFS)Ed and FRCS(Clinical Surgery in General)Ed qualifications and is a member of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgeons.

Registered as a specialist Facial Surgeon with the General Medical Council – a UK Board-Certified Facial Surgery specialist. Graduate from King’s College School of Medicine & Dentistry, London gaining degrees in both medicine and dentistry with four distinctions and 3 prizes (including Cheyne-Edwards Surgery Prize).

  • 2002-2006 Higher Surgical Training (Maxillo- Facial, Craniofacial, Cleft Lip & Palate, Cosmetic & Reconstructive Facial Plastic Surgery) at the Mersey Regional Maxillo- Facial Unit, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Mersey Regional Head & Neck Cancer Centre Liverpool
  • 2006-7 Interface head & neck surgery fellowship, Manchester (Maxillo- Facial Surgery, ENT Head & Neck & Plastic Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery).

Co-author of the 4th Ed UK Head & Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Management Guidelines. 34 oral presentations at national (12) and international (10) conferences including lecture and international keynote lecture invitations.

  • Intercollegiate Medal at speciality exit examination completing higher surgical training (highest mark over all sittings of the exam) 2006 (Intercollegiate refers to all 4 Royal Colleges of Surgeons)
  • Landscape Shift award MIMIT January 2010 – prize awarded for the best research proposal in 2009 submitted to Manchester University’s centre for Integrating Medicine and Innovative Technology. The project proposal relates to the field of reanimation for facial paralysis.
