Mrs Harper-Machin is a Fellowship-trained plastic surgeon and Honourary Senior Lecturer working in one of the busiest specialist plastic surgery departments in Europe. Based at Whiston Hospital she is also the Chair of the regional Skin Cancer Specialist MDT for the Cheshire & Merseyside region (which also covers north Wales and the Isle of Man).

She graduated with an Honours Degree from the University of Liverpool and undertook her post-graduate training at centres including Bristol, Yorkshire, south Wales, Manchester & Merseyside. She completed a specialty fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at the University of Toronto, Canada - primarily based at the world-renowned Princess Margaret Cancer Center.

As a Senior Clinical Lecturer at The University of Liverpool she supervise's medical students researching the use of technology to improve the reliability of microsurgical free tissue transfer for soft tissue reconstruction. At Whiston Hospital Mrs Harper-Machin approve and supervises the Audit projects which go on within the plastic surgery department. Clinical Audit is paramount in any surgical practice as it ensures we are always working towards achieving the highest standards of clinical care.

Mrs Harper-Machin is published in the academic literature, with particular interest in difficult breast wounds. She has lectured throughout the world and has been adopted as a key advisor to the facial reconstruction society due to her expert knowledge in this field, and is the specialty lead for plastic surgery at the University of Liverpool.



Mrs Harper Machin is passionate about the artistic nature of surgery, but realistic and honest with regards to its limitations. As a lady surgeon her goal is to ensure you are comfortable with the surgical choices that are made together - you achieve your desired appearance.
