The Cellulaze treatment works by delivering a laser beam under the skin through tiny incisions. Cellulite is tackled in three different ways; first the laser is directed underneath the surface of the skin to release the fibrous bands that cause the skin dimples, then any excess fat cells are targeted by the laser beam. Finally, the treatment stimulates collagen formation which will help to give a smoother appearance to the legs that will continue to improve over time.

There is no other treatment on the market that gives long-lasting results from just a single treatment. For a safe and effective treatment of cellulite, Cellulaze is able to produce results from just a single, minimally-invasive treatment.

Cellulite affects mainly women and is caused by tough fibrous bands that are connected to the surface of the skin where women’s fat cells are distributed. As a result of these fibrous bands, the fat cells can become trapped and then bulge causing the dimpled effect.

Understanding exactly what causes cellulite gives the key to what makes an effective treatment. There are many treatments for cellulite reduction on the market but most don’t work long term – they might produce short-term results because either they cause a temporary inflammation that disguises the cellulite or they might promote collagen production that can improve the appearance of the cellulite. However, none of these treatments address the cause of cellulite.

Why Cellulaze
photos showing how effective cellulaze laser surgery is on skin cellulite before and after photographs

The Cellulaze is the world's first minimally invasive laser cellulite treatment to address the core structure of cellulite. It was introduced to theUK by Mr Hassan Shaaban. Cellulaze is unique in that it attacks the three different structural components of cellulite. The three components of cellulite are:

  1. Proliferation of fat cells within their tight compartments appearing as skin bulges
  2. Shortening of skin septae (links between skin and muscles) causing dimpling of the skin
  3. Loss of skin thickness and elasticity, resulting in an uneven skin appearance

Cellulaze is different from any currently available cellulite treatment. Creams and lotions have minimal effect on cellulite. Very few may stimulate the skin to produce collagen but they have no effect on fat bulges or skin dimples. Also, they have to be used daily and for a long time to get any result. External cellulite therapy like ultrasound, radiofrequency, external laser and Endermologie has limited success as most of these techniques stimulate the skin to produce collagen, some can dissolve some fat but none has any effect on the fibrous bands (skin dimples). They also need to be applied frequently (may be weekly) to maintain any effect.

Mr Shaaban explains: “In my opinion, the main structural abnormality of cellulite lies in the unexplained shortening of the fibrous septae between the skin and deeper muscles, as well as the laxity of the skin. None of the existing treatments have been able to address these problems adequately and, as a result, as plastic surgeons, we have been unable to produce satisfactory results.”

Today Cellulaze laser surgery shows immediate results which continues to improve with time.

The Procedure

Cases are performed as walk-in walk-out procedure under local anaesthesia. Cellulaze delivers a laser beam under the skin through two to three small incisions.  It treats all components of cellulite at the same setting.  It dissolves fat bulges, divides fibrous band to release skin dimples and also tightens the skin through stimulation of collagen formation. Cellulaze gives a long-lasting result after a single treatment. Follow up of early cases of Cellulaze in USA shows no recurrence of cellulite after three years of treatment.

The Cellulaze laser is unique in that it produces a combination of different laser wavelengths. One particular wave length (Nd-YAG 1064nm) targets blood vessels under the skin, reducing bleeding and resulting in less post-op bruising, pain and swelling.
